January 2020 Lunch Meeting - NYSDOT Update & CBOW Bridges in Au Sable Forks and Lake Placid

Please join us at noon on Thursday January 9, 2020 at the NYSDOT Main Office Conference Rooms at 50 Wolf Road for a lunch meeting of the Eastern New York Chapter of ABCD featuring the 2020 NYSDOT Update and a one-hour presentation on Critical Bridges over Water - Au Sable Forks and Lake Placid presented by Diego Santos, PE, Will Smith, and Gerson Murillo, PE.  These bridges were replaced under the Critical Bridges over Water program.  This presentation explains the pre-construction bridge conditions, the post-construction bridge conditions, and some of the technical challenges on this project.

November 2019 Dinner Meeting - Bridge Maintenance Strategies for Success

 

Please join us on Thursday November 14, 2019 at Moscatiello's Italian Family Restaurant (99 North Greenbush Rd, Troy, NY 12180) at 5:45pm for the November dinner meeting of the Eastern New York Chapter of ABCD. Michael Damiano from the Society for Protective Coatings will discuss key elements of a successful maintenance painting strategy for the steel bridge owner. This presentation will cover coating systems currently in use, surface preparation practices, coating application techniques, the qualification of contractors and inspectors, and much more.

Please join us at the Russell Sage Dining Hall on the RPI Campus beginning at 5:45pm on Thursday, October 10, 2019 for a joint meeting between the RPI ASCE Student Chapter and the Eastern New York Chapter of ABCD for a presentation on the Blenheim Bridge Replacement Project.

Edmund Snyder, PE, Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., will discuss the challenges to rebuild the world's longest single-span covered timber bridge from cencept of design through construction completion. This is a great opportunity to network with Professionals as well as students who are about to enter our industry and are looking for potential internship and full time job opportunities.
